As emailed by the club secretary:
If you can get to the club to be ready for warm ups starting at 6.30. We then move to net practice starting at 6.45. Fielding practice will start at 7.15/30 and finish by 8pm, when you can resume net practice again.
Hitesh will be there to develop all your technical skills and we aim to work on at least one specific fielding skill each week to work it hard.
Regular attendance at nets will benefit your game over time - so if you can make it get there on time please. And of course the Bar is then open afterwards.
I just wanted to raise a point (and not a mutinous one in any way):
We should allow for those that aren't able to get there by 6.30 and/or have to leave by a reasonable time - on a couple of occasions I (and others) have got there for 7pm, had ten minutes of warming up and then been expected to spend the evening fielding before having to depart.
If some can only make an hour or so then they should be able to bowl/bat in that time rather than field. I know fielding is important, but would have thought that batting/bowling takes priority for those that don't have as much time to spare on a week day.
Could we perhaps make the fielding earlier or later?

Permalink Reply by Joseph Perera on June 22, 2011 at 15:52 Fielding drill last week was really good. Ground fielding, throwing down the stumps, backing up, throwing down again, big throw in, and then catching. Kept everyone occupied.
In the weaker teams particularly, it is really important to get this type of thing right. REALLY IMPORTANT!
In a way, getting some batting time in the nets should (or could) be a reward. Perhaps some sort of fielding drill would identify x number of the weakest fielders, who would go on for another 15-20 mins to work on the things they are struggling with before joining the rest.
I hate running around more than most people, but if well managed, it would really pay dividends. I also have problems getting there on time and can appreciate the frustration of batsmen that want some net time.
