1st safe, 2nds denied and 3rds best ever finish

Mixed emotions on the final league weekend of the season. The 1st XI, already assured of their league status next season, played out a losing draw to Glaxo. The 2nd XI crushed Glaxo (despite a feisty start from the visitors) only to hear that the hitherto unbeatable Cavaliers had gone down without a squeak against near-neighbours and fellow promotion candidates Hanwell. CECC lose out on the basis of wickets taken and the inevitable review of missed opportunities begins. The 3rd XI, with nothing to play for but position, hammered Alexandra Park to secure their best ever league finish at 3rd. Surely 2011 will see at least one promotion with both 2nds and 3rds looking amongst the strongest teams in their divisions.

On Sunday, the league side await news on whether they're promoted for the second consecutive season - everything resting on how the league decide when points are level. The Wildcards lost (again) but had an enjoyable game against friendly opposition, and the development team fell to a strong North London XI.

2010 has seen 6 teams playing on several weekends - a first for the club and one that promises to continue in 2011 with more new members and stronger league teams. We might also see the Saturday 4th XI finally take off, with the tantalising prospect of 7 teams playing most weekends. Onwards and hopefully upwards next year.
