Princes Risborough VS CECC Wildcards 13-5-2012

Posted on May 15, 2012 at 7:08 3 Comments

All CECC London games were cancelled this weekend except for the Wildcards' trip to Aylesbury.  Princes Risborough is a trek indeed.....a 42 mile 1 hour car trip.  However, at the end of the long drive is a truly cracking cricket ground.  The ground was truly beautiful - a dry wicket & a pristine outfield.  The club has covers which have kept the square very dry.  The only disadvantage to weeks under covers appeared to be the ultra-low bounce on the…

First 2012 Report from the Sunday Wildcards

Joe Nickel writes:

Crouch End endured a frustrating experience at Mill Hill Park.

Their players started turning up from 12:30, the scheduled start time. Fifteen minutes later their captain arrived, and requested they field first rather than tossing. Crouch End Skipper Youdale agreed, and was then surprised when they then asked for the start to be further…

A tale of two games, rain in September & Paulo Van Damme

A tale of two games today, literally.  The best news of today was that we managed two games, despite the weather trying to halt all cricket in London.

Game 1 Harrow - we lost the toss, were put into bat, and the rain started almost from the off.  Harrow were keen to play, as they wanted to win the league and had loaded their team accordingly.  We had one hour of play, and were 32 off 12 overs - pretty slow batting, but that was partially understandable given they had some…

Life after Crimewatch?.... Abbotts Langley VS Wildcards (League)

Posted on August 8, 2011 at 22:00 1 Comment

Stormy weather and stormy moods greeted the CECC Wildcards upon the league match with Abbotts Langley.  A bunch of unruly 14-year old boys, similiar to those causing mayhem in Peckham and Hackney, shouted abuse and threatened violence.  Well not really.... we were in Hertfordshire after all.

Beautiful ground, beautiful bouncey wicket and beautiful freedom - the Wildcards were finally liberated from the tyranical regime of Herr George.  Could the dry weather hold to ensure we…

Hey Bobby, tweeted you the other day, but my top score is currently incorrect on the batting average page for Sunday XI. Top score should be 31, not 71 (as published). Sadly 71 is my total runs, not my best score. Although I feel my maiden 50 is in the pipeline, best not get ahead of ourselves just yet....
