All CECC London games were cancelled this weekend except for the Wildcards' trip to Aylesbury. Princes Risborough is a trek indeed.....a 42 mile 1 hour car trip. However, at the end of the long drive is a truly cracking cricket ground. The ground was truly beautiful - a dry wicket & a pristine outfield. The club has covers which have kept the square very dry. A tale of two games today, literally. The best news of today was that we managed two games, despite the weather trying to halt all cricket in London.
Game 1 Harrow - we lost the toss, were put into bat, and the rain started almost from the off. Harrow were keen to play, as they wanted to win the league and had loaded their team accordingly. Stormy weather and stormy moods greeted the CECC Wildcards upon the league match with Abbotts Langley. A bunch of unruly 14-year old boys, similiar to those causing mayhem in Peckham and Hackney, shouted abuse and threatened violence. Well not really.... we were in Hertfordshire after all.
