Sunday Wildcards vs The Village 24.4.11 Match report

Please own up, whoever it is who has offended the cricketing gods.  So far this season CECC has lost five out of five games, and given how fantastic we all are it is obvious divine intervention must be involved.

Today we played fairly well but somehow ended up badly beaten.

Our top four batsmen, Prashant, Nicholas, James F and David Jenkins each looked capable of a big score.  But Prash swung at a full toss and was LBW for 7, Nicholas was caught on 13 and James showed suicidal…

3rd XI Saturday 23rd April. Wealdstone Corinthians (A)

A short report on the warm-up game away to Wealdstone Corinthians on Saturday 23rd April. 


The team was probably representative of what a Crouch End league 4th XI will look like.  Losing the toss and being asked to field we learnt that Ian is getting into a decent rhythm with the new ball, Liam has a bit of a way to go.  Stu’s steady little away-swingers should prove useful as, with application, will Nabil’s off-breaks.  Jeremy strayed down the leg side…

Sunday 17 April vs London Muslims (Friendly)


OK, the Sunday Tigers were soundly beaten by North London Muslims.  Frankly we never looked likely to match their 197 for 4, and struggled even to get to 101 all out.  And yes, this gave Crouch End three defeats out of three on the opening weekend of the season.  But there were reasons to be cheerful.

First, and most important, to play 75 overs of cricket, in the sunshine, in mid-April, is always something to be celebrated.

And second, our bowlers performed well. …
