C.E.C.C.| Shepherds Cot | Crouch End | North London | N8 8JJ
After beating a poor Old A's two weeks ago, I was informed by the oppo that next time would be different. They were right, they were worse.
A lot can happen in two weeks, you can work on your sledging, perfect your dead bat block and with both of these finely honed put in another crap performance against Crouch End.
Crouch End were sent in and slowly built a score of 180 from 51 overs. Ali's 50 was uncharateristically slow and restrained, evidence of the total lack of pace in the pitch.
The tea was one of the better ones on the circuit. So is the ground and facilities. Shame then that the side is propped up with mouthy white trash youngsters. The sort of side JJ might thrive in.
At 40-5 Old actonians shut up shop with 25 overs to go and received a barrage of abuse because of it. Suddenly our slow 180 was hulking in the distance like some sort of unobtainable mirage in the desert.
Old A's were held together last season by their overseas who smashed 800 league runs [including 200*]. Exposed in his absense, grimly blocking for their 1 point lives, we tried our best to guess his number for them.
A reminder that success can only be judged on longevity. The loyalty and strength of the many will always outlast the influence of the few.
Crouch End 182-9 51overs
Old Actonians 103-5 49 overs
