How to score 285 off 35 overs:

First 10 overs:  40 runs - Bernard being careful, Sam out for 5 , bowled off his pads. Dom gets himself in.

Second 10 overs: we add 87 runs - Bernard and Dom out , but DJ batting like a madman. 646464. Then all of a sudden he gets a nick to the keeper and is out for 57.

Third 10 overs: add 113 runs - Shashi and Robbie J carry on the good work. Bowlers shell shocked.  Fielders demoralised and dropping catches.  DJ comes on as a sub to show them how it is done, and drops Robbie.

Final 5 overs: add 45 runs.  Shashi bowled for 93.  Ken comes in for the last three balls.

We have scored 285 for 5 on the most treacherous pitch I have played on all season!  We retire to tea and watch Manchester United taking Arsenal apart (which took the edge off my afternoon, I must admit).

The Old Parkonians innings struggles with Kiran bowling well, but without luck. Sasha lets Dilan keep so he can bowl.  Sasha soon picks up two wickets (a nice stumping by Dilan, a good catch by Ken).  But then as the forecasts had predicted the heavens open and the game is over. A rather unequal draw.

Bad luck to Courtney, who came all the way, without his trousers, and only fielded one ball all afternoon.  (You were due to bowl next old chap. Blame God.)

But well done to the batters, especially DJ, Shashi and Robbie, and also to Dom who helped draw the sting of the bowlers, to set things up for the most ruthless demolition job I have ever seen.

By the way, our Man of the Match was DJ for transforming the game in about four overs.  Sashi, you might wonder how anyone can top score with a quick 93 and not be man of the match.  Well the trick is to pay your £5 match fee with a CHEQUE, and POST DATE IT! You should be a banker mate. Next time it's cash or you bat no 11.

BTW Bernard in the bowling averages I finished with figures of 2-4 and Kieren was the one who got hit for 2 fours I believe that brings my average down to 2.

Sorry Sasha.  I am correcting the figures now.  To be honest, I did not get a note of the bowling figures, so was relying on memory!

78*, 72, 48*. My average is 198 for Bernard.  Good enough to pay by cheque next time?
